What is Yoga vashistha? How it can help us?

Yoga vasistha is one of Gita in Hinduism, conversation between sree Ramachandra and Vasistha Muni ji (vasu ~ human, vasistha ~ greatest among humans). It contains 32000 slokas in sankritra language. It is based on theory of non-origination. In Yoga vasistha sree Ramchandra ask questions and vasistha ji answer Rama's query. Yoga vasistha dated back in between 11th to 14th century A.D.

  • Story behind Yoga vasistha, why God himself need to solve queries from Vasistha ji?

In his young age, sree Ramachandra wanted to go for roam in india. He asked for permission to King Dasaratha (father of Rama). Dasratha told him to go on pilgrimage tour of whole india. He visited many devotional places in india while he was in tour. At that time he experienced many spiritual and self realization incident, Because of this he wanted to take sanyasa!

After returning from tour, Rama like to stay alone. After some time, King Dasartha come to know about Sree Rama's situation. King Dasaratha asked Guru Vasistha to help him. Guru Vasistha told King Dasaratha to summon Sree Rama. First time King Rama summoned Sree Rama as Father, but Sree Rama didn't come. Second time King Dasaratha summoned Sree Rama as king of state. Sree Rama come to meet King Dasaratha and Guru Vasistha.

Then in king Dasartha's court, Guru Vasistha gives lectures for 22 days. The guidance directly lead toward truth of life, goal of life, abou self realization, awakening of spirituality with it's 8 sage. This suggest that even Rama who is incarnation of Vishnu forget his identity, they also require a God-realized master to wake them up.

  • How it can help us?
Yoga vasistha guide us for do our act according to our duty and responsibility.  In Bhagvad Gita Arjuna have everything but he forget his path, God krishna guide him to fight for his duty. In Yoga Vasistha Rama was on spirituality way and forget him self and also forget what is meaning of his life. Yoga vasistha realy helpful who don't know meaning of their life.
